About
Hi friend! I’m Alex Anandi Williams.
I am a devoted wife and mama to 3 littles, all born at home. I live with my family in central Virginia where we dabble in homesteading and homeschooling. Before pursuing birthwork, I taught middle and high-school English, worked in community service with kids and families, and taught Hatha Yoga. I am committed to my own spiritual growth and practice, and part of the way I walk my spiritual path in everyday life is through practicing nonviolent communication (NVC), gratitude, and mindfulness. A true Ravenclaw, I enjoy reading, learning, and discussing the big questions of life over a cup of coffee. When motherhood affords me the time, I also like to move my body, get creative in the kitchen, tend a weedy garden, and spend time in nature.
My birthwork journey began long before I had my own children, when I watched The Business of Being Born. My eyes were opened to the unnecessary medicalization of birth as well as the beauty of undisturbed physiological birth. As I sought care for myself during my own pregnancies, I found myself aligned with the midwifery model of care. It’s not an overstatement to say that my life was profoundly changed by the transition into motherhood that I experienced when I gave birth at home supported by women whom I knew and loved.
I trained as a doula with Indiebirth’s Doula Academy in 2023 and I am excited to continue learning and growing my offerings. I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve as a doula and help support women as they make autonomous choices in pregnancy, birth, and motherhood.
