  • Too often, preparing for birth is a family’s main focus and the postpartum time is overlooked, leaving new mothers feeling under-supported and overwhelmed. Postpartum doula support can look different based on your needs and can include new mother guidance and support, newborn care, light housekeeping, meal preparation, and more. If you are receiving birth doula services and would like support beyond 2 postpartum visits, you can reserve additional time. If you did not choose to have birth support but would like postpartum support, you can book postpartum support after a free consultation.

$30 hourly (3 hour minimum visit); $20 hour for 6+ hours.

Welcome!

First of all, congratulations! Expecting a baby is one of the greatest blessings and joys.

Secondly, thanks for being here. Choosing doula support for yourself is an act of self care.

As your doula, I will be fully present for you and your partner throughout your pregnancy, labor and birth, and early postpartum time. I align with the holistic model of care which views mind, body, and spirit as interconnected, and I trust in the wisdom and strength of the human body. Birth is hard work, and you can do it. The work you do in pregnancy can help you prepare for your birth experience and postpartum time. I will work with you and your partner to help you gain clarity on your wishes for your birth, help you recognize your thoughts and fears about birth, and help you plan for your ideal birth. I can address questions and concerns and help direct you to resources about the many decisions you face in pregnancy, birth, and motherhood.

In labor, doula support may look like hands-on comfort measures, suggestions, and verbal encouragement. I am sensitive to every individual’s unique lifestyle, culture, and spiritual practices, and I aim to support you in ways that are consistent with your beliefs. You know best what you and your baby need, and I am here to serve you.

    noun

A trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to their client before, during and shortly after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible. (DONA International)

  • The truth is, you don’t need a doula. But you may definitely benefit from having the support of one. Doula support is even evidence-based! Research shows that there are several benefits from receiving continuous doula support, including:

decrease in the risk of Cesarean, increase in the likelihood of a spontaneous vaginal birth, decrease in the use of any medications for pain relief, shorter labors by 41 minutes on average, decrease in the baby’s risk of a low five minute Apgar score, and decrease in the risk of being dissatisfied with the birth experience.

  • No, a midwife is a health professional who can provide clinical care for mothers and newborns during pregnancy and birth. A doula is not a healthcare provider.

  • Yes! While partners, friends, and family are all very important support people, they too could benefit from having a doula to help make up a labor support team. Sometimes labor can be long and mothers may need lots of hands-on support. Doulas can work with partners so that emotions, exhaustion, hunger don’t get the best of either. Also, partners may have limited knowledge about birth and doulas can help fill the gaps. Research shows that women supported by both a partner and a doula have the best outcomes, and partners have the most positive birth experiences when they had continuous support by a doula or a midwife.

  • No, but I do offer payment plans and some barter/trade arrangements. Please inquire if you are facing financial limitation but would still like doula support.

  • Yes! I encourage partners to attend the consultation as it is important that all parties feel comfortable working with each other.
